Inaugural Roots Picnic LA Announced: Queen Latifah and Common To Headline

The star-studded event is slated to take place on June 29 at the Hollywood Bowl.

The Roots Picnic is calling a second place its home.

Traditionally held in Philadelphia, home to the legendary hip-hop group the annual festival weekend is named after, the event is slated to shit over to the West Coast as The Roots have partnered with Live Nation Urban for “Roots Picnic: Hip-Hop is the Love of My Life,” which is scheduled for June 29, 2024, at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl.

In staying with tradition, the band will headline the festival and be accompanied at the top of the lineup by Queen Latifah, Common, Digable Planets, Arrested Development, The Pharcyde, and Black Sheep’s Dres, among others yet to be announced.

“The first time we played Hollywood Bowl was way back in 2011, and there was nothing like it,” Questlove said of the event. “We came back to headline in 2019, and we’ve been talking about doing something there since. This idea for Hip-Hop is the Love of My Life came up, and we knew there was no better spot.”

Tickets for Roots Picnic: Hip-Hop is the Love of My Life go on sale Thursday, December 14, at 1 pm EST at hollywoodbowl.com.
