Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson Pay Tribute to Paul Walker
Days after his tragic death, Paul Walker's close friends and co-stars are slowly starting to put words to their immense grief. Vin Diesel and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson both paid tribute to their Fast & Furious co-star on Tuesday, with Diesel even making the pilgrimage to the crash site where Walker died in a fiery blaze.
Johnson, who starred with Walker in Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6, tells Entertainment Weekly, "When I first met Paul, I think in our late 20s, we were young kids in the business," he recalled. "Then, years later, when I did [2011's] Fast Five, we had an opportunity to spend a lot of time together and become reacquainted." He continues, "The most important thing that we had in common was the importance of family time and being a great father to our daughters. We bonded over that."
Meanwhile Diesel, who starred opposite Walker in several installments of the franchise, memorialized his friend at the site of his car crash in Santa Clarita, California. The star grabbed a police car speaker to thank and address fans holding vigil at the site.
"I just want to say to all of you, if my brother were here right now and he saw all of the love you are bringing here..." said Diesel tearfully. "At this hard time, his family gets to see all of you show the love that you've shown Paul. It's going to stay with me forever. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him."
The coroner completed his autopsy of Walker's nearly unrecognizable body on Tuesday, though the results are being kept private at the time. Area police did, however, rule out the idea that Walker had been joyriding or drag racing prior to his death.
