Kanye Planning To Build His Own Cities: ‘Yecosystem’
Controversial rapper Kanye West, who changed his name in 2021 to Ye, appears to have plans to build his own small universe, or what he calls the “Yecosystem.”
Rolling Stone reports that plans have been on the drawing board for years for West to create a self-sustained enterprise that would include branded homes and retail stores that sell Yecosystem-branded products. His first campus could launch as early as November 2022.
His team has reportedly been busy registering a website domain and working on trademarks that include Yzyverse, Yxyverse, and Yeezyverse. The filings suggest that West plans to create several services in his Yecosystem, including beauty and interior design consulting, as well as film and TV production.
This all comes against the backdrop of West, 45, recently coming under a hail of criticism for handing out White Lives Matter t-shirts to homeless people in Los Angeles and for making anti-Semitic comments.
Appearing on CNBC in September, West talked about his decision to end his business relationship with The Gap, Inc. and building his “own castle.”
“A king can’t live in someone else’s castle. A king has to make his own castle,” West seems to hint about the Yecosystem.
“He’s trying to do s–t that people couldn’t even conceive of and he’s trying to make it happen,” a source told Rolling Stone. “He comes from a good place. It’s definitely his goal that everything that people touch that’s his is a good thing and has a good impact on the world.”
