Former Head of Gucci, Tom Ford, to Launch Beauty Line
Former Gucci wizard Tom Ford is ready to take the plunge into the world of cosmetics. He can certainly make the leap having effortlessly conquered overseeing the design of clothing, shoes, eyewear, fragrance and more. Women's Wear Daily (WWD) reports that, his company (Tom Ford) is partnering with Estee Lauder Cosmetics to launch a new line of over 130 make up and skincare items in September.
Joonbug.com says that Ford dabbled in cosmetics previously with his 12-piece Private Blend Lip Color Collection and apparently wanted to do an entire line while at Gucci, but quotes WWD as saying, "They weren't convinced he had a voice in color until his lipsticks started selling out again and again."
Ford was 12-years-old when his mother bought him his first pair of Gucci loafers. And 16 years later he was chief women’s ready to wear designer for the fashion empire. In 1994 he was promoted to fashion director, and within a decade he led the company from near bankruptcy into a $4.3 billion dollar empire.
With his own beauty line of lipsticks, glosses, blush, liners and more, it’s hard to imagine what could be next for the fashion guru. The self proclaimed perfectionist has us on the edge of our seats.
