Drake Is One Song Away From Breaking This Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Record
In usual Drake fashion, the OVO Sound honcho is closing out yet another successful year with a bang.
Fresh off of being named Spotify’s most-streamed artist of the decade, Drizzy is on the path to another notching career high. This week, OVO Sound affiliate PARTYNEXTDOOR’s latest single, “Loyal,” (which Drake is featured on), made its debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart at No. 63. This marks Dizzy’s 206th hit, which now puts him one song away from tying the Glee cast for the most career entries on the chart, Billboard reports.
The musical comedy series racked up 207 chart hits between 2009 and 2013 during its run on FOX. Given that the show had its final curtain call in 2015, it’s safe to say the mantle is Drizzy’s for the taking. "Loyal" marks Drake's 17th Hot 100 entries this year alone, tying Ariana Grande for the fourth-most behind DaBaby (21), Post Malone (20) and Taylor Swift (18), according to Billboard.
Billboard also noted that this year marked the 10th anniversary of Drake’s first-ever appearance on the Hot 100. The Scorpion rapper put his name on the map after his single “Best I Ever Had” off of his acclaimed introductory mixtape, So Far Gone, peaked at No. 2.
The news comes after Drizzy passed The Beatles this past summer to hold the record for the second-most singles to land in the Hot 100 Top 10 behind Madonna. In total, 35 of his hits have reached the top 10.
Congrats on another legacy-marking W, Drizzy!
