Twitter Reacts To The Bizarre Trailer For 'Loqueesha’
In one of the most bizzare things of today, a trailer surfaced of a supposed comedy called Loqueesha and it has people talking, to say the least.
The upcoming film stars Jeremy Saville, a white man, who also directed and wrote the script. According to him, the screenplay promotes a “diverse cast of breakthrough actors” and “takes viewers on an unexpected and thought-provoking journey that challenges society—and our own—conventional beliefs about identity and perception."
The problem is, it doesn’t. It features a middle-aged white man who pretends to be a Black woman radio talk show host and becomes a big hit.
In the trailer, numerous problematic nuances play themselves out. At the beginning, main character Joe answers an ad for radio talk show hosts that “minorities and women” are encouraged to apply for. He later takes on Louqueesha, an offensive, ignorant stereotype.
A “Listen to Loqueesha” t-shirt also reveals itself at the end, a clear dig at the term “Listen to Black Women.”
Social media didn’t find the “comedy” funny at all. See the trailer and some of the reactions below.
