Beyoncé on Labor: "Her Birth Was Emotional and Extremely Peaceful"
The internet exploded this weekend with the news that singer Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy Carter, on January 7 in New York City. The couple released a statement today thanking fans for their support and to clear up any confusion surrounding the details of their daughter's birth. Blue "was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives." Initial reports said that Beyoncé had a C-section.
"Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven," the couple added. "We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support."
A rep for Lennox Hill hospital, where baby Blue was born, also wants it to be known that the Carters did not pay $1.3 million to seal off an entire floor. "The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true." Instead, she said they are being housed in an "executive suite" and will be billed a "standard rate."
