Fantasia to Headline Super Bowl Gospel Concert
Beyoncé isn't the only R&B diva headed to the Super Bowl this year. Fantasia has just been announced as the headliner of the annual, NFL-sponsored Super Bowl Gospel Celebration in New Orleans, the Associated Press reports.
Fantasia will join Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Winans, Bishop Paul S. Morton and host Sherri Shepherd of The View for the concert, which is now in its 14th year. The gospel show will be recorded before a live audience at the UNO Lakefront Arena on February 1 and then syndicated for television broadcast. The Super Bowl game, at which Beyoncé will perform during halftime, will take place February 3 at the nearby Superdome.
The American Idol-winner's headlining slot comes shortly after she came under harsh public scrutiny for controversial comments about same-sex marriage.
Tickets for the concert, sponsored by American Family Insurance, are on sale starting at $40 at superbowlgospel.com. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Malcolm Jenkins Foundation and the Sharper Kids Foundation.
