Watch: This White Woman Called a Black Reporter 'N***er' on Live TV
Emmy Victor, a local news reporter, was reporting on an officer-involved shooting in Boone, Iowa, when a bystander showed her true colors and yelled hate-filled racist epithets directly in Victor's face. The woman was later identified as the mother of Michael Disbrowe, the man who was shot and killed when he refused a police order to lower his firearm.
In the video footage, Victor is seen keeping calm as the woman continues to call her hateful words.
"Get the f*** out of her, you stupid n***er," the woman screams. She continues to yell, and even goes so far as to push Victor before turning around, pushing down a camera tripod, and being ushered away. KCCI reported that neither Victor nor photojournalist Zach Hayes were injured during the incident.
The station's GM, Brian Sather, released a statement regarding the incident, saying, "The safety of our crews is critically important, as they cover stories affecting our communities." Adding, "This morning, Emmy and Zach demonstrated the utmost professionalism in the face of a very difficult, emotionally charged situation."
It's impressive to see such composure in the face of blatant hatred and racism, but hopefully this is something Victor never experiences again.
