Dr. Conrad Murray Has Some Advice for Prince's Doctor
Sadly, as more details about Prince's death come to light, it's looking like he may have suffered from a similar opiate addiction that claimed Michael Jackson's life. Now, the King of Pop's doctor, who spent years in prison for providing MJ prescription drugs, has a message for the Purple One's medical advisors: get a lawyer.
“I would say clearly he needs an attorney, and a good one, because we have what we call ‘regular justice’ and ‘celebrity justice,’” he says of Prince's doctor — who, incidentally, went missing after cops began investigating his involvement in providing the rock icon with illegal prescriptions.
Dr. Murray, who spent two years in prison and lost his license to practice medicine after he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death, tells Inside Edition that Prince’s doctor should not face the same punishment that he did. “On the bottle there are clear instructions," he reasons. "If Prince as an adult chooses to take 15 pills every six hours versus two pills every six hours, in the absence of a doctor, do you hold him responsible?”
Murray goes on to claim that Michael Jackson was not a fan of Prince. “Michael didn’t like him,” he says. “I felt there may have been an inherent competition. I think Michael felt that he had always set himself apart. I think he thought Prince was a want-to-be.”
Still, he says, he doesn't want Prince's doctor to suffer the same fate as he did, which was two years in prison and losing his medical license. “I’ve lost everything," he says. "Everything I’ve amassed has been taken from me as a result of an unjust verdict. I am and I remain an innocent man.”
