Morgan Freeman stars as the real-life, fearless South African leader Nelson Mandela in this moving film about breaking barriers and overcoming odds.
As Mandela, Freeman sees the game of rugby as a way to unite South Africa and diffuse any tensions that may exist between Black natives and White Africans who traveled to South Africa in the 17th century — Afrikaners. After much triumph and strife, Freeman soon finds that bringing together a segmented country will take all the courage, energy and power he can muster.
In portraying Mandela, Freeman realizes "he's the master of his [country's] fate, and the captain of his [country's] soul."
Tune in to Invictus, Thursday at 9P/8C, directly following the BET Special Mandela: Freedom's Father airing at 8P/7C.
