Colin Kaepernick sitting and kneeling during the national anthem as a stance against racism and police brutality in America has spawned several similar silent protests with fellow NFL players kneeling and raising a fist during the "Star Spangled Banner" as well.

Off the gridiron, NBA players have already vowed to follow Kaepernick's lead, while college and high school athletes and even cheerleaders have already knelt during the national anthem, too.

But this story out of Sacramento perhaps marks a first in this growing movement. While singing the national anthem before the Sacramento Kings' home preseason game Tuesday night, Leah Tysse knelt. After making the stance, the Bay Area singer, who is white, took to her Facebook account and explained her reason for doing so via a powerful post.

"I cannot idly stand by as Black people are unlawfully profiled, harassed and killed by our law enforcement over and over and without a drop of accountability," she wrote.

Amidst Kaepernick's ongoing silent protest, there has been clamoring about more white players needing to get involved to stand up for their Black teammates and the social injustices they see.

But this stance by Tysse just shows that taking a stand isn't relegated to only athletes and that anybody could join this movement and perhaps help to make a difference.
