Outrage After Video Of White Sorority Sisters Saying 'N****r' While Singing Kanye West's 'Gold Digger' Goes Viral
A viral video of a group of sorority girls at the University of New Hampshire saying the n-word while singing along to “Gold Digger” has sparked national outrage and incited debates on the use of the slur in rap songs.
The Facebook group All Eyes on UNH first posted the video Tuesday just before noon.
“A member of Alpha Phi Sorority put up this video of girls singing along to 'Gold Digger' by Kanye West on her Instagram story,” the post on Facebook read. “The girls sing the n-word without thinking of the implications."
“This is a showcase of ignorance and that the Panhellenic Council should do better in combating racism. The first step is addressing willful ignorance.”
After the video was posted, there were mixed reactions from people
Many said white people should never use the word, regardless of whether it's used in a song

While others claimed the girls did nothing wrong but sing a word in a popular record
A rep from UNH said the administration is looking into the incident
UNH Director of Media Relations Erika Mantz released a statement to NH1 on Wednesday.
"No disciplinary action has yet been taken by the university. The incident is under review," Mantz told NH1. "We believe strongly in the right to free speech as recognized by the First Amendment, and we also believe in the right of every member of our community to feel safe and respected.
"We continue to work to improve our campus culture through education, awareness and action."
Alpha Phi and its national chapter have not yet released a comment.
