Kendrick Lamar to Perform at Grammys
Kendrick Lamar will perform at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards when the show airs live next month, he announced late Wednesday (Dec. 18) with a tweet. "Jan. 26, 8 p.m. I'm performing @TheGRAMMYs on @CBSTweet #GRAMMYs," he wrote.
Also billed to perform is Daft Punk in what is being billed as "a collaborative and celebratory stage" set "that honors their multi-nominated music," according to show producer Ken Ehrlich. The typically reclusive duo haven't done a live show since 2008 and are up for four trophies.
Lamar has seven nods, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. "It feel[s] great," the 26-year-old said of the nominations in an interview with Power 106 last week. "I got some of the best fans, the best family, the best radio station supporting me, and that's who I owe it to at the end of the year."
Of the seven possible wins, Album of the Year would be the most surreal for Lamar. "[Good kid, m.A.A.d. city] is a really raw album, there's not too much crossover. So for them to even put it in that light, that's a win by itself," he explained. "If I take it home, that's even more of a crazy feeling."
