Video Of Attack On Black McDonald’s Worker Draws Outrage After Male Employees Did Not Intervene

Many criticized the manager for failing to immediately call the police.

After the video of a white man attacking a Black female McDonald's employee went viral, debate stirred surrounding the inaction of the worker's male colleagues.

In the video, recorded by a witness at a St. Petersburg location of the fast food chain, the white customer, who was identified as Daniel Taylor, becomes furious after learning there were no straws put out for him to take. Instead of calmly asking for a straw, he violently grabbed the uniform of Yasmine James.

  • While James was able to fight the man off herself, her manager and other male employees stood by and did not step in until much later

After the video, Taylor was arrested for assaulting the victim and kicking another employee in the stomach on his way out.

He was charged with two counts of simple battery.

  • After the clip went viral, many began questioning why none of the men standing around helped James

  • This situation was compared to an earlier incident wherein female KFC employees immediately defended their coworker when someone pulled a prank

In the video, posted by the Shade Room via @bobbie_holliday, an Instagram prankster attempted to accuse a KFC employee of writing their number on his friend's receipt. Without hesitation, the female coworkers stepped in and told the man that he needed to order some food or take his nonsense elsewhere.
