Megan Thee Stallion Drops ‘Suga’ Album To Rave Reviews From Fans

Alongside the EP, a music video has dropped as well.

Megan Thee Stallion officially released her debut album, Suga, on Friday (March 6). Alongside Suga, the Houston rapper also dropped a music video for her single, “B.I.T.C.H.”

  • The video introduced fans to her previously teased alter ego, which is also named Suga. The video opens with Tina Snow giving Suga a quick pep talk about standing strong in herself before the Tupac-sampled beat drops. Throughout the video, Megan dons multiple luxurious outfits, including a snake-print full bodysuit and black BDSM-esque black halter set as she raps about her refusal to dilute her raw and authentic realness for any potential lover.

  • The highly anticipated nine-track EP dropped at the stroke of midnight after Megan came out on top in a legal battle with her label, 1501 Certified Entertainment.

News broke last week that the rapper’s label 1501 was attempting to stop her from releasing any new music after she approached them to renegotiate the terms of her contract.

“I was like 20, and I didn't know everything that was in that contract," she informed her followers on IG Live. “So when I got with Roc Nation, I got management,  real management and real lawyers. They were like, 'Do you know that this is in your contract?' And I was like, 'Oh, damn, that's crazy. No, I didn't know.’”

  • A Texas judge granted her a temporary restraining order on Monday (March 2) against 1501, which allowed her to release the album today.

1501 leader, and former Major League Baseball player Carl Crawford, spoke to Billboard and called the lawsuit a “whole lie.”

“Nothing is true that she said. Me being greedy and taking money from her, that's crazy. I never tried to take nothing from her,” Crawford told the publication. “The only thing we ever did was give, give, give. Now, she fell for the oldest trick in the industry: the conquer and divide theme.”

  • Before the album dropped at midnight Megan posted on Twitter, “I’m super excited for y’all to hear.”

  • And the hotties quickly shared their enthusiastic reviews.

“SUGA ATE @theestallion WHOLE EP ATTTEEEEEE,” one fan gushed on Twitter

    “CAPTAIN HOOK IS A F***ING BOP,” a second co-signed.

“#SUGA soooo damn [fire emoji] got me all up in the mirror early in the morning trying to get ready for work a b***h can't stop,” a third issued.
