Roddy Ricch Pledges To Donate Astroworld Earnings To Victims’ Families
Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival tragedy truly has the nation stunned and in disbelief, after eight people died at the event and nearly 300 were injured on Friday (Nov. 5) during a stampede and crowd surge.
Rapper Roddy Ricch, who was one of the opening acts at the Houston festival, announced following the tragedy that he plans to donate his net earnings from the event to the victims families who died.
“Please have the families of those who we lost yesterday reach out,” he wrote on his Instagram Story, Variety reports. “I’ll b donating my net compensation to the families of this incident.”
Ending the post with the hashtag #Pray4Houston.
Ricch performed on the “Thrills” stage during the Astroworld festival that also included a roster of acts including SZA, Lil Baby, and Master P.
Scott took over his “Chills” stage that quickly turned into a night of a series of unfortunate events that left eight concert-goers dead ranging in age from 14 to 27. A nine-year-old boy is also in a coma after falling from his father’s shoulders during the crowd surge at the concert.
At least two lawsuits have already been filed against Scott.
“I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need,” he tweeted. “Thank you to Houston PD, Fire Department and NRG Park for their immediate response and support. Love You All.”
Scott also announced that he is covering all of the funeral costs for those who lost their lives at Astroworld.
