Though Hurricane Irene caused the August dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial to be postponed, that didn't stop the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity from honoring one of their most esteemed members with a theatrical and musical tribute at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.

The star-studded tribute featured appearances by Hill Harper, Phylicia Rashad, Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Della Reese and many others who acted out scenes from Dr. King's life. The event also featured musical performances from Lalah Hathaway, Kenny Latimore and the Morehouse College Glee Club (from Martin Luther King, Jr.'s alma mater).

The initial concept of honoring Dr. King was conceived in 1983, by five members of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity (George Sealy, Alfred Bailey, John Harvey, Oscar Little and Eddie Madison).
