Watch: President Obama Has Powerful Conversation About Athlete Activism and Sports Stars Who Made a True Impact

POTUS sat down for an ESPN student forum.

Soon after President Obama took over the Oval Office back in January 2009, we quickly found out how big of a sports fan he is.

Well, with this being the stretch run of his presidency, it was fitting that the commander-in-chief held court with ESPN during a student forum at North Carolina A&T State University on Tuesday night.

There, one of the central points that the POTUS made was about athletes' activism — a hot topic as of late, considering Colin Kaepernick's kneeling during the national anthem as a stance against racism and police brutality in America.

The 44th U.S. president served up candid thoughts about the San Francisco 49ers' QB and what other athletes can do to get involved and have a voice amidst the social injustices that continues to wreak havoc against African-Americans.

To further his points, Obama named two late sports legends that he thinks used their platform to fight for social change better than anybody else — Muhammad Ali and Arthur Ashe.

Watch him break it down below.

Just last month, Obama backed Kaepernick using his constitutional right to make a statement, adding: "I think he cares about some real, legitimate issues that need to be talked about and, if nothing else, what he's done has generated more conversation about some topics that need to be talked about."
