2023 NAACP Image Awards: 3 Biggest Records Broken By Drake So Far
Drake is a formidable force in the music industry. He has achieved monumental success, both commercially and artistically, and his influence on rap music and popular culture are irrefutable. Throughout his career, Drake has amassed numerous awards and accolades, but it is the records he has shattered that truly speak to his impact. As he continues to dominate the charts and captivate audiences, we celebrate his recent nomination for the 2023 NAACP Image Awards by reflecting on some of the milestones in his illustrious career.
The Beatles' Billboard Hot 100 record
Last August (2022), Drake broke the 55-year record once held by the iconic English rock band The Beatles for most songs on the top five hits in Hot 100 history thanks to his collaboration with DJ Khaled and Lil Baby on the hit "Staying Alive." The song debuted at No. 5.
The Beatles' Top 10 record
In 2018, the “Sticky” emcee also beat the Beatles for most Top 10 hits in a single year and most top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 the following year. In honor of the significant milestone, the rapper got a tattoo of the band’s Abbey Road pose, with himself leading the pack, on his left arm.
75 billion streams on Spotify
Drake was the platform’s first to surpass 75 billion streams. The “Rich Flex” rapper responded to the moment on his Instagram Stories, writing, “We should get bonuses like athletes to motivate the future artists to be consistent and competitive…” He added, “So feel free to send me a LeBron size cheque I have enough dinner plates. ”
