A Drink With The Circle - 'Sistas' Cocktails
You know we love coming up with cocktails for our favorite characters, so what better group than the “Sistas” to do a new menu for? These ladies love to get together and trade war stories over their professional and romantic lives over a well-made drink. Here's what your recapper/bartender would make for the crew if they stopped by my bar.
Sabrina: The Reliable Spritz
Among the group, Sabrina is often regarded as the "peacemaker." With a reserved personality, she works as a bank teller, so she can be trusted with money, especially if her girls leave her with the drink bill. Let's do something light so she's prepared for anything.
- 1 oz rose liqueur
- 3 watermelon chunks
- 2 oz prosecco
- Club soda
Add watermelon chunks and ice to a generous wine glass, then add the rose, prosecco and club soda. Keep one eye open for that friend "just going to the bathroom."
Karen: Twin Temperance
Karen is the independent and headstrong one of the circle. At the start of the series, she's running her hair salon and going through a breakup with Zac. Now, Karen is pregnant with twins, but a prenatal exam revealed that each one has a different father. No one needs a drink more than her but we need to keep these (yes, we're doing two!) zero proof.
- 2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 2 oz honey syrup (1:1 hot water and honey)
- Club soda
- Ginger beer
- Rosemary
Shake the lemon and honey and strain equally into two Collins glasses. Top each with ice. Finish the first with club soda and garnish with rosemary. Finish the second with ginger beer and a lemon wedge. Convince yourself that you're drinking booze as you contemplate how you'll explain to everyone how you ended up with twins by two different men.
Dani: The Ride or Die-Jito
Fun and somewhat abrasive, Dani has no filter. She's definitely the kind of girl who comes to a bar and orders a classic and says, "But can I get that with mezcal?" It's a busy night at the bar, and she wants to party, so it's not her problem if the bartender has to go find mint in the kitchen.
- 2 oz mezcal
- ½ oz simple syrup
- 3 lime wedges
- Mint
- Club soda
- Peach bitters
Drop the mint and two lime wedges in a tall glass along with simple syrup and gently muddle to press out the lime juice and mint oils. Dash with peach bitters and add the mezcal. Finish with ice and club soda and garnish with the remaining wedge. Knock that back and immediately follow with a shot of tequila.
Fatima: Passion of the Plus-One
As Andi's right hand, her place in the circle is secure despite Karen's little bit of hate. She's loyal, passionate, and has a big heart. We also know she's related to Madame Deville, so she stays ready.
- 2 oz cognac
- 1 oz passion fruit syrup
- 1 oz lemon Juice
- 1 Egg White
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with no ice. Once the egg white is properly integrated, add ice to the shaker for a final round. Strain everything over a large cube and ask Karen how she's enjoying her alcohol-free kid's drink.
Andi: The Lawyer's Freezer Martini
Andi is an accomplished divorce attorney, but when the show premiers, she finds herself in a complicated affair with a married man. Andi is known for being the most successful and level-headed member of her sista circle, and she doesn't seek out drama so much as it finds her. She needs something strong, reliable, and classic—not just a martini but a freezer martini, ready to pour as soon as she gets home.
- 13 oz Gin
- 4 oz Dry Vermouth
- 7 oz filtered water
- 1 oz orange bitters
Add all ingredients to a 750 ml bottle, give it a quick shake, and store in the freezer on Sunday night. You'll need it when you get off work tomorrow.
