Desus Nice Confirms ‘Desus & Mero’ Will End After Four Seasons
It’s all over ballbags.
Showtime’s Desus & Mero, the comical musings of Desus Nice and The Kid Mero, has reportedly come to an end after four seasons on the network.
“Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will be pursuing separate creative endeavors moving forward. Showtime’s late-night talk show ‘Desus & Mero’ will not be returning for a fifth season,” a Showtime spokesperson said, according to Variety. “Desus Nice and The Kid Mero have made a name for themselves in comedy and in the late-night space as quick-witted cultural commentators. Throughout its run, the series won a WGA Award, received Critics’ Choice nominations and scored interviews with President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden, Derek Jeter, Missy Elliott, Denzel Washington, Charlize Theron, David Letterman, Yo-Yo Ma and many more. They have been brilliant hosts, and we wish them the best, along with the team at JAX Media and the incredible crew.”
Additionally, both the program’s official Twitter account and Desus’ confirmed the news after rumors of a split began circulating on the social media platform earlier on Monday (July 18).
The popular duo, known for their Bronx-centric humor, began as Desus & Mero on Viceland before moving to Showtime in 2019, becoming the network’s first-ever late-night show.
Additionally, the pair were well-known for their popular Bodega Boys podcast, which launched in 2015. They were also behind the 2020 bestseller God-Level Knowledge Darts: Life Lessons from the Bronx, as well as film and television projects in a behind-the-scenes capacity.
It isn’t clear as to what caused the duo to split.
