Man Charged In The Fatal Shooting Of Memphis Rapper, Snootie Wild
A 22-year-old man is now in police custody for the murder of Memphis rapper Snootie Wild.
According to Action News 5, Ivory Duke Williams was arrested by Houston Police on Wednesday (Dec. 14).
The family of the rapper, born LePreston Porter III, say they provided evidence to Houston Police of Williams being the suspected shooter months ago, according to Action News 5.
“Heard that he did finally get caught kind of brought peace to me a little bit,” said Porter’s 20-year-old son, LeTerrion Burt.
However, the sought-after peace didn’t come without a cost.
“Just trying to find answers, you know, reaching out to different people that, you know, like finally came to me with a tip by the grace of God,” Burt said.
Burt says the shooter made a social media post in October where he allegedly admits to committing the February murder.
Porter was found in the south region of Houston with a gunshot wound in the neck. Authorities say he was in a ditch at the time of discovery, next to an SUV.
According to the family, the detective on the case didn’t give them any information, so they hired a detective.
According to Action News 5-affiliate KPRC, Williams made a probable cause court appearance this week, where a judge says Williams claimed Porter pointed it at his cousin. The judge says that a gun was never found on or near Porter, investigators say.
Porter’s mother, Toya Porter, expressed what she has experienced during the process.
“My blood pressure stays up, sky-high, all the time,” she said.
