Flavor Flav Reveals He's Applied to be the USA Torchbearer for the 2028 L.A. Olympics
Flavor Flav made waves as the hype man and official sponsor of the U.S. water polo teams at the 2024 Olympic Games. Now, he's aiming to elevate his involvement even further by serving as the USA's torchbearer for the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
During a recent appearance on the Potlickin' podcast, the Public Enemy rapper revealed his aspirations to carry the torch, saying, "I've got a feeling I might be one of them. I already put in my bid." He then compared his hopes to Snoop Dogg's recent role in Paris. "If Snoop can carry the torch in Paris, come on, man, Flav can carry that bad boy in L.A."
The 65-year-old continued, "Snoop did a fantastic job, man. Even though they paid him a half-million a day, he rocked it, and I know he had a lot of fun out there. Mad big ups to you, Snoop. I want one of them pins too. He got his own Olympic pin. I’m gonna try to get me one of them Olympic pins."
Elsewhere during the conversation, Flav reflected on his time during the 2024 Games. He described it as "a dream come true," even ranking it "a little" more exciting than attending the Super Bowl. "I ain’t going to lie, man, the Super Bowl...it’s exciting going to the Super Bowl, but this was a little bit more exciting," he admitted. "It’s like, wow, I’m finally here, and I’m finally getting to really experience and see this in real life with my own eyes, and being in that moment."
As reported by BET, earlier this month, Flav took to his X (formally known as Twitter) page to share a look at the bronze clock necklace he made just for Jordan Chiles after she was ordered to return the Olympic medal she was awarded for her gymnastics floor exercise in the final.
“USA gonna Fight the Powers that be…, In the meantime between time… Imma always [be] a man of my word @ChilesJordan,” he captioned the video, referencing Public Enemy’s hit song “Fight the Power.”
