Quincy Brown Opens Up About His Evolving Relationship with Biological Father Al B. Sure
Quincy Brown is opening up about his evolving relationship with his biological father, Al B. Sure. On the latest episode of Angela Yee’s Lip Service podcast, released on Tuesday, Sept. 17, Brown discussed the journey of reconnecting with Sure, who dated Brown's late mother, Kim Porter, in the early 1990s, before her high-profile relationship with Sean "Diddy" Combs.
The conversation delved into Brown’s feelings towards his father, especially after Yee brought up Quincy's emotional open letter in 2009. In the letter, Brown publicly called out Sure for not being present during his upbringing while expressing gratitude for Diddy’s role in his life. In response, Sure told Essence at the time, “I’m a human being, so of course hearing about any family member being disappointed with you is devastating. But what can you do? I’m a human being, and my job is to fix it.”
Fast forward to today; time has done much to heal those wounds. During the interview, Brown reflected on how their relationship has evolved. "I think we’ve got a cool relationship now," he said. "He tends to try to do the ‘dad thing’ a lot, but that’s not really where we’re at in life. We’re more like homies now. We go do things together, and I feel like we’re really getting to know each other as two grown men. We can talk about anything and everything."
The interview was released on the same day Sean Combs was arrested, adding another layer to the family’s complex dynamics.
