Beleaguered super producer Scott Storch could be on the hook for up to $100,000 after an aspiring singer slapped him with a lawsuit, TMZ reports. The singer, Treena Ruberg, says she paid Storch big bucks to produce hit songs for her, but the recovering cocaine addict was too strung out to get to work.
Ruberg says she agreed to pay Storch $45,000 dollars in October 2011 — $30,000 up front — to produce six songs. Before committing to the agreement, Storch, who did a stint in rehab in 2006, reportedly assured Ruberg that his drug issues were under control and that he had been "cured of his past problem."
But Storch's drug problems continued. In February, he was arrested in Las Vegas for cocaine possession, and Ruberg says his addiction has rendered him incapable of holding up his side of the bargain. Now she wants her $30,000 back in addition to $70,000 dollars in expenses, including paying for studio time, plane travel and hiring another producer.
Storch, a former Dr. Dre protégé and member of The Roots, has made hits for Jessica Simpson, Fat Joe and 50 Cent among others. He has lost much of his fortune to his drug habit.
