Aretha Franklin Reuniting With Clive Davis

The Queen of Soul will join forces with the veteran music exec for her next album.

Aretha Franklin is headed back to the studio, and she'll be recording with another big name from the classic pop era — her old label boss Clive Davis.

Aretha revealed the news at her 70th birthday bash in New York on Saturday, the Associated Press reports. "I have re-signed with Clive Davis, so I'm recording with Clive again," she said. "We're going to sit together and decide what it is we're going to record."

Aretha recorded a number of hits for Davis's Arista records throughout the '80s, including "Who's Zoomin Who" and "I Knew You Were Waiting for Me." Davis is now chief creative officer of Sony Music Entertainment.

At Franklin's birthday party over the weekend, Davis was reportedly close by her side. Other guests included Diane Sawyer, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Willie Wilkerson and jazz pianist Kris Bowers
