Bebe Winans Reveals That He, His Mother And Brother Contracted Coronavirus
Famed gospel singer Bebe Winans shared that he is now recovering after contracting the coronavirus.
During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s The Joe Madison Show, Winans revealed that he, his 64-year-old brother, and 83-year-old mother all recently came down with the virus. He speculated that he contracted the virus after traveling from New York to Detroit to attend a late friend’s funeral. Winans admitted he didn’t think he would catch the virus, as it was right around when the coronavirus outbreak first began in the U.S.
“Sometimes, for some reason, we as a people when we look in and we look at television and various things that's going on around us, we somehow say, that can't happen to me for some reason,” he confessed. After he returned back home, he started experiencing symptoms of the virus.
“I just started coughing out of nowhere,” he recalled. “And the fatigue came on, and the chills, and [my] appetite went away.” Winans said he called his doctor right away instead of going to a hospital for treatment and self-isolated. He added that he was dry coughing for 15 days straight and ran a fever before he started feeling better.
He also revealed that his brother was hospitalized for about four to five days after he had a seizure and “pneumonia set in.” Fortunately, his health recovered. His mother, on the other hand, was “touched by it” for a few days.
Winans cautioned everyone “to use common sense,” take the coronavirus seriously and practice social distancing.
“Being on the other side of it now, I'm just grateful...I was just saying, ‘God, I thank you.’...it could have been a different outcome for me and my family,” he acknowledged. “I've learned to be more grateful for life itself. Forget about homes and automobiles and all these things. You can't take none of that. That means nothing to you when your health is gone.”
