R. Kelly’s New Album Will Give You the Itis
R. Kelly is releasing his next album, and it's not what you think.
The Black Panties singer recently revealed that with his upcoming collection, rather than paving a new way — as the Pied Piper usually does — he's more so throwing back to all the recipes in his repertoire.
“It’s all you can hear," he told Rocsi Diaz on HLN’s The Daily Share. "I’m 27 years deep in the business. I’ve been blessed to do this music for so long and I’ve got a lot of great songs under my belt, and fans love it. But I’ve got all different kinds of generations of fans now, and I have to feed everybody."
His last release, which dropped in 2013, put numbers on the boards to the tune of at least 300,000 copies sold.
Explaining his cross-genre appeal, he noted. "You’ve got hip hop. You’ve got old school music with the 'Step in the Name of Love' type. Then you’ve got traditional R. Kelly, sensuous sexual kind of music. It’s just a variety of things, so I call it the Buffet.”
No word yet on when the LP drops, so for now, watch R. Kelly's "buffet" display at the BET Awards in the video below.
