A Twitter Employee Suspended Trump's Account On Their Last Day Of Work And People Are Calling That Person A National Treasure

"Thank you for making America feel safer for 11 minutes."

Not all heroes wear capes and not all gifts come on Christmas. On Thursday, a cape-less hero gave the country — and the world — a present on their last day of working for Twitter.

This gift came in the form of an account suspension for someone who has been tweeting a little too much: the President of the United States.

For 11 minutes on Thursday, President Donald Trump was unable tweet because his account was down.

  • When people searched for his profile, they received this error message

  • An official Twitter account announced they were investigating the incident

  • Eventually, Twitter announced the action was done by a rogue staffer on their last day

According to a former senior employee, "a lot" of employees have the ability to suspend a user's account.

"It's one click if you have the rights to access the tool," the person told Buzzfeed News.

The former employee also said Twitter was aware that its suspension permissions could be abused; however, they have not put "special protections" in place yet.

"There was discussion that for verified accounts or high profile ones, there'd be special protections (i.e. "2 keys") but it was never implemented," the person told Buzzfeed.

  • After his account was reinstated, Trump sent out a confusing tweet

No one is quite sure what "word" or "impact" Trump is talking about.

  • In response to his tweet, some made funny assumptions about who may have done it

  • Some prominent figures even congratulated the person behind the act

  • One person thought the world could do better with more people looking to cause on a stir on their last day of work
