Pharrell Inks Deal to Turn 'Happy' Into a Children’s Book

Skateboard P joins forces with Putnam Books for latest venture.

Over a year after his ubiquitous single blew up, Pharrell Williams is still riding the “Happy” train all the way to the bank.

The 41-year-old father will release a series of four children books, the first of which will be named after his mega hit, the Associated Press reports.

The first of the books features children all over the world “celebrating what it means to be happy” and is scheduled to be released Sept. 22, publisher Putnam Books for Young Readers announced early Tuesday (Feb. 17).

Putnam, a subsidiary of Penguin Books, will publish 250,000 copies of Skateboard P's first kid's book.

“Happy,” from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, debuted in November 2013 and went on to become the biggest single of 2014 with more than 12 million copies in international sales. The single was also nominated for an Oscar and won Skateboard P two Grammys.
