Hel-lure, hell-ure and hell-ure, moviegoers! Expect to be seeing a lot more Madea and Tyler Perry on the big screen for the next few years.

Lionsgate Studios has announced that it has renewed its movie and home entertainment agreement with Perry for three more years.

The new deal will include two new Madea-themed movies and will give the studio the option to release any film directed, written and produced by Perry. Lionsgate will also continue to release DVDs of his stage plays.

This has been a Hollywood studio marriage made in heaven for Lionsgate. Since Perry's 2005 feature film debut, Diary of Mad Black Women, his films have grossed on average $52 million per picture. The Madea movies are Perry’s most successful; Madea Goes To Jail was the topper and earned $90 million dollars domestically at the box office. Last year’s For Colored Girls was one of Perry’s worst film undertakings, earning only $37.7 million. And so far Perry’s magic touch has been regulated to only stateside success, as his films generally do poorly overseas.

But you won’t find Perry complaining anytime soon. He’s one of the few filmmakers in Hollywood who has this type of lucrative, sweetheart deal with a studio. Not only does the Atlanta-based director pocket half the profits from his movie releases, but he also retains complete creative control over all of his films.

In a statement, Perry said, “Lionsgate has been incredibly affirming of my relationship with my audience— I've always had the artistic freedom to speak what I want, how I want, and when I want through my films."

Perry’s latest movie, Madea’s Big Happy Family, hits theaters April 22nd.
