Coco Austin Responds to Backlash Over Her Braids, Says It's Not a 'Race Thing'
Ice-T's wife Coco Austin got her hood pass revoked last week when she got her long, blonde hair braided into cornrows and decided to name the 'do the "Coco Swoop."
Wrong move, diva. Social media was all over Coco's case for Columbus-ing a style that has been a part of Black culture for generations, and then went in on her husband for lashing out at those who pointed out the issue. Now, Coco is speaking up in response to all the drama that she caused.
Coco posted a video to social media addressing the backlash, telling people it's not a "race thing" (using air quotes no less). Due respect, Coco, but we'll be the judge of that.
"I name all my styles that I do to my self," Coco explained. "These are called the Coco swoop, the braids before Bo Derek braids, and it's a Coco-ism. I've always done it. Why can't we all rename hairstyles or braids? That's so stupid. Why is everybody claiming something they shouldn't?"
Okay [Jay-Z voice].
Do you accept Coco's explanation, or nah?
