Lil Wayne Talks Nicki Minaj's 'Lookin' A--'
Lil Wayne weighed in on Nicki Minaj's "Lookin' A--" track in a newly released MTV News interview, and aside from Beyoncé's latest (which could be "Drunk in Love" or "Partition" in this case, Wayne doesn't specify), Minaj's "Lookin A--" fills that need for a club anthem that flips the script on men, he said.
"It's either that song ["Lookin' A--"] that's making them feel good like that or that new Beyoncé ... but that's what Nicki does. She never fails to amaze me," he explained.
Snagging a rave review from Wayne is no easy feat, he usually encourages Minaj to go harder. "I'm a tough judge," he continued, "And I'm the boss so I kinda be like, 'That's nice, but you can do better.'" He then quickly added, "But that's what I tell myself everyday, too."
Minaj's Detail-produced heater stirred up controversy over its use of an iconic Malcolm X photo as the unofficial single artwork, while the music video has racked up more than 5 million views online.
"Lookin' A--" is featured on YMCMB's latest compilation LP, Young Money: Rise of an Empire. The album, released on March 11, bowed at No. 7 on the Billboard album charts, selling 32,000 copies in its first week.
