Latto Reflects on Career With Throwback Clip of Onstage Performance at 13
Latto has come a long way since her days as a child performer.
Last week, the "Put It On The Floor" rapper reposted a clip of her owning the stage at 13 while spitting lyrics. Following that moment of reflection, she offered words of wisdom that some might find helpful.
"Don't give up," she captioned the tweet on X (formally known as Twitter).
Big Latto is not just giving advice; she's practicing what she is preaching.
In 2016, she got her big break when she appeared as a contestant on the debut season of Lifetime's "The Rap Game," hosted and produced by Jermaine Dupri and Queen Latifah. The teenager would go on to win the competition, and she's been on her grind since.
Over the years, she has topped the charts with radio bangers including, "B-tch From The Souf," and "Freaky Gurl."
Her latest album, "777," which dropped in 2022, featured songs "Big Energy" and "It's Givin'," which saw major success on TikTok.
The ATL rapper was crowned Best Female Hip Hop Artist at the BET Awards in 2023, beating Coi Leray, Cardi B, Glorilla, Ice Spice, Megan Thee Stallion, and Nicki Minaj.
“I’m not going to cry this year,” Latto said during her acceptance speech. “But shout out to God. Shout out to all the other women in the category and the women who paved the way for this to even be possible. This category is going crazy this year.”
Following that win in 2023, she also reached her first #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for her collab with BTS star Junk Kook for "Seven."
Now, she is going primetime.
Latto will join season two of the Netflix hip-hop competition reality series "Rhythm + Flow" as a judge alongside Ludacris and DJ Khaled, as cited by Billboard.
Season two of "Rhythm + Flow" is expected to premiere later this year.
