LL Cool J Backtracks After Announcing He Shelved New Album With Q-Tip
LL Cool J has been busy as of late.
The famed rapper and hip-hop pioneer just graced the Grammys stage while hosting the Hip-Hop 50 tribute set, which ultimately was one of the highlights of the annual award show.
Even earlier that day, LL told E! News that his new album with Q-Tip was in the works and on the way. “I know all the tricks. I got this covered,” he said during the red carpet interview. “Look, it was executive produced by Q-Tip. The album I think is really, really special. I think it’s something modern without chasing. It’s a whole new thing. I can’t wait for the people to see it.”

But then, just weeks later, LL revealed that the highly-anticipated project would not be dropping. Via Twitter on Wednesday morning (February 22), he informed his fans: “Just not feeling like this album is worthy of being released [face palm emoji] I tried… Not dropping it,” in subsequent tweets made that have since been deleted.
Then, just hours later, Mr. Cool J backtracked, obviously conceding he was trolling his fans.
“I was considering not putting the record out because… IT’S TOO F****N’ GOOD,” he said with a laugh. “Q-Tip, you a genius, baby!” He also noted that it’s his favorite album he’s ever made and that the release date and tracklist would be on the way soon.
