Adrian Peterson Indicted for Child Abuse
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is under indictment for child abuse following an incident with a four-year-old boy, believed to be his son, TMZ reports.
The boy visited Peterson back in May and reportedly returned back to his mother with injuries. Authorities in Montgomery County, Texas, indicted Peterson, 29, on reckless or negligent injury to a child. An arrest warrant has been issued for Peterson, he is expected to turn himself in "as soon as he can, when it works out with the authorities," his attorney Rusty Hardin said adding, "but we don't have time right now."
A source says the incident involved Peterson disciplining the boy with a switch, according Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Peterson has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation, and already testified in front of a grand jury. He also made it to practice with the Vikings today (Sept. 12).
He posted the following message on Twitter this afternoon, “People understand that if you are on God’s course and suppose to have that position and man decides to remove you know that God will remove everyone to place you rightfully! You matter! It’s your season! Weapons may form but won’t prosper! God has you covered don’t stress or worry!”
The Vikings released a statement confirming that they are “in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation.”
Last year, Peterson's two-year-old son passed away after he was beaten by his mother's boyfriend.
