Zendaya Turned 21 And Announced She's Not Going To Drink
Even though she’s legal drinking age, Zendaya vows she don’t be getting down with the hard stuff — at least anytime soon.
The former Disney star was all about good, clean fun, having a low-key family dinner complete with a customized Tupac cake. She also had a chic shindig with pals like Lori Harvey in attendance.
Despite the common acceptance of alcohol in Hollywood, Zendaya penned a piece on her website, "Why I'm Not Drinking On My 21st Birthday," explaining her decision.
"Today I turn 21! Holla!!! But just because I'm now the legal drinking age, doesn't mean I'm going to start throwing 'em back. I don't plan to start drinking,'" she began.
"My life is too stressful to need help with relaxing by having a cocktail. This industry is way too nuts for me to not be in control of myself and my decisions, so I just don't want to introduce drinking!
"Plus, I don’t want drinking to become a vice. Why try something if you don’t need it?!"
We applaud Zendaya for choOsing to follow her own path — and recognizing the dangers of fame and substance abuse. She joins the ranks of several other celebs who happen to also skip out on booze.
She also asked her fans to donate to the Convoy of Hope! to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. “No contribution is too small, and it’s super easy to help,” she emphasized.
