Senator Raphael Warnock Leading Herschel Walker In Georgia Senate Race Poll
Senator Raphael Warnock is currently leading Herschel Walker in a new poll for the Georgia Senate.
According to a CBS News-YouGov poll published on Wednesday (Sept. 22) 51 percent supported Warnock with 49 percent for Walker. Additionally, 58 percent of voters had a more positive view of Warnock compared to 42 percent who had a favorable view of Walker. Also, 56 percent said Warnock has a strong moral character with 43 percent feeling the same for Walker. Only 28 percent of respondents said Walker has the right experience to be a U.S. Senator, compared to 52 percent for Warnock.
The poll was conducted from Sept. 14 to Sept. 19 with a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
A reason for the struggling poll numbers could be a series of gaffes from Walker. Earlier this week, Walker, who is endorsed by Trump, went viral, for saying, “I'm not that smart” while talking to reporters in Savannah, Georgia. He also predicted that Warnock would “embarrass” him at their Oct. 14 debate.
Other viral moments have included bizarre remarks about climate change. His stance on abortion, for which he supports a total ban with no exceptions. As for gun control, Walker seemed to propose a governmental agency to monitor “young men that’s looking at women that looking at social media.” Walker has attacked fatherlessness in the Black community, although he reportedly lied to his campaign about his “secret” children, and had to admit to being the father of four.
