Bob Arum has a plan to finally make the long-awaited Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight happen.

Minutes after Pacquiao scored an unanimous decision victory over Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night, Pacman’s veteran boxing promoter told the meddling media members asking about the craved mega fight how they can actually make the bout happen.

"The only people that can make Floyd Mayweather fight Manny is the public, if they boycott the nonsense on May 3," Arum yelled at the post-fight press conference, as reported by Yahoo Sports. Arum was referring to Mayweather’s scheduled bout against slugger Marcos Maidana, who is a heavy underdog. "That's what the public should do. [If the media] wants that fight, tell the public not to buy pay-per-view and not to buy tickets. There is no other [strategy]. We are prepared tomorrow to sit down at a table with [Mayweather’s] people…to work out the conditions for the fight."

It’s never been clear why the best boxers of their time haven’t been able to make this match happen dating back to 2009, although both have taken turns blaming each other for the failure to give boxing fans the bout they want to see.

Adding to matters is the fact that Arum and Golden Boy Promotions, which is handling the promotion for Mayweather’s May 3 fight, have been in a cold war-type of stalemate when it comes to ironing out and cementing a bout, especially Mayweather-Pacquiao. Further complicating the situation is the fact that Mayweather is with Showtime while Pacquiao is with HBO.

Although Pacquiao didn’t have his usual bounce in his step Saturday night, he was still good enough to defeat Bradley. Many boxing analysts believe that Pacquiao is more likely to face Juan Manuel Marquez, for the fifth time, as his next opponent as long as Marquez is able to defeat Mike Alvarado on May 17. Marquez is also represented by Arum.
