Ex-Track Coach Who Admitted To Having Sex With 17-Year-Old Student In A Park Found Dead In His Car
Timothy Even, a former girls' track coach who admitted to having sexual intercourse three times with a 17-year-old student, has reportedly committed suicide.
The 28-year-old was the girls' track coach at Westbrook High School before being arrested in September 2016 for having an inappropriate relationship with an underage student.
Even said he couldn’t control his feelings toward the student and was convicted of unlawful sexual contact and assault last December.
According to the Press Herald, Even’s car was found backed into a log landing in Lovell, Maine. Lt. Walter Grzyb of the Maine State Police said in a statement, “His death is not suspicious and is believed to be a suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning. The medical examiner’s office will make the final determination. An autopsy is not expected but further testing will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.”
Another student pointed out Timothy Even’s behavior after finding explicit text messages between the minor and coach. The relationship had reportedly been going on since April 2016.
Originally, Even had denied the allegations but confessed when evidence was presented. According to him, the relationship started with the “best of intentions.”
“Unfortunately, my lack of professionalism and self-control created a situation that got out of hand,” he subsequently remarked.
Even was convicted of the misdemeanor charges in December.
