Truly Spooky: California Woman Tries Lipstick At Sephora And Gets Herpes
Some of our earliest memories of learning how to use makeup include lessons in hygiene.
What we believed to be a cute, #justgirlythings bond with our fellow ladies in the form of sharing makeup was quickly dispelled to us as a bacterial breeding ground. (Though TV shows and advertisements would have you think otherwise!)
It's even possible that that very lesson, which included "don't share mascara, you'll get pink eye" and "don't share lipstick, you'll get herpes" no doubt helped us form the hypochondriac tendencies we still harbor today.
It seems as if a California woman missed this memo. While visiting a Sephora location in 2015, a woman is claiming a tube of tester makeup gave her oral herpes, TMZ reports, citing court documents.
Good lordt. This is literally our worst nightmare realized!
Imagine going to your local Sephora, trying on a shade, and thinking you look cute. Weeks later, a cold sore menaces the very spot you sought to beautify. We shudder at the thought because it COULD'VE BEEN US. It could've been you.
Say a little prayer tonight if you didn't contract herpes from your local Sephora, because girl, it is a *reality.*
Now, back to that bit about hygiene. It has been reported that sanitizing a surface such as lipstick prior to trying should drastically reduce your risk of this happening to you. And really, do not skip this step unless you want to literally be the subject of this article. In which case...do you?
Does this change how you feel about testers?
