‘Love & Hip Hop’ Star Moniece Slaughter Reveals She’s The Voice Behind Iconic ‘ANTM’ Theme Song
In a revelation that surprised many, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star Moniece Slaughter revealed that she’s actually the voice behind the iconic theme song of Tyra Banks’ popular modeling competition show, America’s Next Top Model.
And, apparently, it turned out to be a pretty lucrative gig for the singer and reality star.
Before it’s many spin-off franchises in other countries, America’s Next Top Model hit television screens in the U.S. back 2003 on UPN (which later became The CW network). The reality series ran for 22 straight seasons and was acquired by VH1 in 2015, where it ran on air until 2018. And, it’s netted Slaughter a pretty significant lump sum. As a matter of fact, the 33 year old is still cashing royalty checks to this day, nearly 17 years after the show’s premiere.
Slaughter shared the news by posting the corner of a check she received bearing the address and location from the California talent agency it came from with the note, “more America’s Next Top Model money.”
In the same social message, Slaughter revealed that her dad got her the gig to sing the theme song for America’s Next Top Model “fresh outta high school,” a move that has more than paid off for his daughter. Significantly.
While Slaughter did not reveal how much she was making in royalties, people were still floored by the revelation nonetheless.
“I ALWAYS thought it was Tyra singing it wtf,” one fan commented with several crying laughing emojis.
“Get them coins sis,” a second applauded, while a third added, “Now that’s what I call a silent bag. Never knew.”
