More Grammy Award Performances Announced

The year in music 2010 may be gone but it’s far from forgotten. While critical discussions of the best albums of last year continue in to this one, the industry’s own celebration of its best and brightest just got a lot more wattage.

The list of performers at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards has expanded to include B.O.B., Janelle Monae, Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber with Usher and Jaden Smith. Blockbuster bands Lady Antebellum and Muse will also take the stage next month, along with previously announced performers Eminem, Arcade Fire, Cee Lo Green, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert and Katy Perry.

Eminem leads the pack in this year’s awards march with ten nominations, including ones for Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Rap Solo Performance. Bruno Mars, the crooning newcomer with platinum songwriting chops, is not far behind with seven nominations of his own. B.O.B., Cee-Lo, Usher and Monae have also received multiple nominations.

Details of what exactly the performances will entail are still scarce, but in its official announcement, the Academy promised that genre expanders Mars, Monae and B.O.B “will perform together for the first time in a rare, never-before-seen presentation.”

Stay tuned, because more changes to the star-studded roster of performers and presenters are no doubt around the corner as we near Grammy night on Feb. 13.
