Snoop Dogg's Chicago division of his Snoop Youth Football League launched this year to respond to incessant violence in the city and now he's enlisted the help of the top physicians in Chicago to provide care for the young athletes.

Internal Sports Medicine physician Dr. Josh Blomgren from the Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR) will head the initiative. The MOR team is known for providing care for the city's professional athletes. The physicians will also serve as their mentors in addition to providing health coverage to the 7-to-14-year-olds.
"We're excited about the opportunity to give inner city youth exposure to the best medical care possible while at the same time opening their minds to the various career options within the sports industry," says Tonja Styles, President of SYFL Chicago. "SYFL is committed to developing student athletes."
Snoop Dogg created the Snoop Youth Football League in 2004, in Los Angeles. The Chicago division opens this August with seven chapters representing Humboldt Park, Pilsen, Little Village, Bridgeport, Cabrini Green, the West, the South and the North sides of the city.
