Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Raising Dion’ Season 2 Trailer Promises Wild Expectations

The titular adolescent super-powered series hints at “something terrible” on the way.

Season 1 of Netflix and Outlier Society ProductionsRaising Dion was a pleasant surprise for those unexpecting a heartfelt, superpowered series. Yet the audience response went way beyond everyone’s expectations, and now, we have a first look at Dion’s new adventure with this Season 2 trailer.

Set for premiere on Feb. 1, Dion, played by Ja’Siah Young, and his friends are experiencing a new type of growing pain as a mysterious force rises to challenge our adolescent superhero. For those unaware, Raising Dion is based on the comic book by Dennis Lu, and tells the story of Nicole (Alisha Wainright) and her son Dion and what their life is like after the latter begins to develop otherworldly abilities like projectile fire and teleportation.

“Dion and his friends are growing up and so is our show,” showrunner and executive producer Carol Barbee announced in a press release. “Nicole’s challenges escalate as she comes face-to-face with every parent’s worst nightmare. The stakes are higher than ever, and we’re so excited for fans to continue this journey with us.”

In Season 2, which will release all eight episodes on Feb.1, the adventure picks up two years after defeating Jason Ritter’s Crooked Man. Dion is honing his newfound powers with the support of his mom and Tevin (How to Get Away With Murder’s Rome Flynn), his Biona trainer who may become a love interest of Nicole. When a new student Brayden (Griffin Robert Faulkner), a creepy, powered kid, joins the class, a series of alarming events take place, and only Dion and his “Triangle of Justice” can step up to save the day.

“Navigating twists, turns, and surprise visitors, Dion and Nicole must prevail again,” the Netflix synopsis tells us, “not just to save themselves, but the entire city of Atlanta.”
