My Black Is Beautiful Launches "Imagine a Future" Program
My Black Is Beautiful has just launched a new initiative that will create opportunities for young Black girls around the country. On Friday, the Procter & Gamble campaign that celebrates African-American Beauty announced that "Imagine a Future" will be a collaboration with the United Negro College Fund and Black Girls Rock! and will provide resources that promote self-confidence.
“The launch of 'Imagine a Future' reflects a natural evolution of our mission to focus on both Black women and girls," said Linda Clement Holmes, Procter & Gamble. "We are thrilled to partner with UNCF and BGR! to bring this new initiative to life through the development of much needed solutions for our young Black girls based on the must-have conversations about beauty, self-worth and empowerment.”
They hope to reach one million girls in the next three years and have kicked off the campaign with several book awards amounting to $3,000 for Black female students in New Orleans this weekend. In addition, one student from the area will receive a $5,000 merit-based scholarship. The giving continued when UNCF and "Imagine a Future" gave a $5,000 check to "Girl Up NOLA," a program that helps girls and young women reach their potential.
