Eminem Just Dropped A New Song With Beyoncé And The Internet Is Losing It
Eminem has made yet another explosive return to hip-hop for 2017 following his BET Hip Hop Awards cypher. But this time, he’s come back a little softer beside someone gracing his new track, “Walk On Water,” with her softer vocals: Beyoncé.
The five-minute song is the first of his anticipated Revival album, delivered as a gentle piano ballad as Queen Bey sings a poignant hook matched with Em’s signature aggressive lyricism for the verses.
“I walk on water, but I ain’t no Jesus,” she harmonizes. “I walk on water, but only when it freezes.”
In short, the single is an ode to the flaws of the flawless, or at least, what fans perceive the two legendary musicians to be, as Bey and Em strip themselves down to the brutal honesty of their humanness. The Detroit hometown rap hero cuts deep in his fear of falling and simply being too human to live up to the expectations of the industry, his career and his fans.
“’Cause I’m only human, just like you/ Making my mistakes, oh, if you only knew,” Bey sings in the second hook. “I don’t think you should believe in me the way that you do/‘Cause I’m terrified to let you down.”
Now that the BeyHive and Stan fans have hit play on the whole, emotional five minutes of “Walk On Water,” the entire internet is walking on edge for the new collaboration.
