NFL Eagles Star DeVonta Smith Celebrates Daughter’s Birth with Epic Touchdown
DeVonta Smith is elated to be a dad, and he showed off some cool moves on the field to mark her birth.
On Sunday (September 10), in a game against the New England Patriots, the Philadelphia Eagles receiver caught a 5-yard touchdown from QB Jalen Hurts in the first quarter. But it was what he did after he caught the ball that still has people smiling and pressing rewind.
The proud parents welcomed their newborn daughter, Kyse, one day prior to game day. In honor of the little girl, Smith did the “rock the baby” gesture after catching the ball and scoring the TD, as reported by Tuscaloosanews. After the cool moves, his teammates ran over to celebrate the catch, then rubbed the ball and patted him on his back.
The new dad helped his team get a win, scoring 25-20. “It was amazing,” he told the reporters after the game. Smith wrapped up the game with seven receptions for 47 yards, along with that stellar TD.
“Everybody was talking about it like, ‘You score, you gotta rock the baby.’ So it was just amazing.”
In addition to having her doting father drop a cool gesture on her behalf, little Kyse will also be able to remember the moment forever. Smith preserved the ball and will gift it as a keepsake to the child.
When asked if he had received any advice on fatherhood, he said AJ Brown suggested “get to sleep when you can.”
