"We Apologize": Vogue Responds After Being Dragged For Kendall Jenner's "Afro" Fail

Here we go again with the cultural appropriation!

Uh-oh, it looks like the Karjenner camp is once again being called out for cultural appropriation, only this time the target is supermodel Kendall Jenner.

So, what's her infraction? Take a look at this photo taken by Vogue to celebrate the magazine’s CFDA Fashion Fund, and then let's chat.

As you can see, the 22-year-old is photographed with a super teased out curls.

Quickly, onlookers began calling out the Keeping Up With the Kardashians reality star for attempting to mimic an afro.

"They stay tryna turn white women into black women," one user wrote. "They rather pretend we don’t exist then give us credit. Ugh."

Another commented on Vogue's photo: "We used to have our hair burned and chemicals because society taught us that we were not beautiful with our afros now they copy our Afros but can’t use actual BLACK models with Afros!"

Good point. So, why didn't Vogue use a Black model?

According to the statement Vogue made to E! News, the inspiration for Kendall's hair wasn't meant be an afro, but instead was inspired by "Edwardian/Gibson Girl hair."

"The image is meant to be an update of the romantic Edwardian/Gibson Girl hair which suits the period feel of the Brock Collection, and also the big hair of the '60s and the early '70s, that puffed-out, teased-out look of those eras. We apologize if it came across differently than intended, and we certainly did not mean to offend anyone by it."

In case you missed it, this isn't the first time the younger sister of Kim Kardashian has been called out for being racially/culturally insensitive.

Back in 2017, Pepsi had to pull its commercial starring Jenner after critics found it to be tone-deaf to the Black Lives Matter movement.
